COMBATIVE HANDGUN is a comprehensive combative handgun course for the serious students of personal protection.

New gun owners can walk away from this series with extreme confidence in thier new found skills, and veteran gun owners will appreciate the challenge and learn plenty along the way.

The series of courses will gain you the experience needed to safely handle and effectively shoot a handgun, as well as give you a base understanding of the combative skills needed to dominate a lethal force confrontation.

This no-nonsense series will give the novice shooter all the necessary information and stress resistant skills needed to win the fight of their lives, and will help veteran shooters hone their skills to a fine edge.

From wearing your equipment correctly, grip and stance, how to quickly and effectively present, getting your hits with practical combat accuracy using intuitive fire and sighted fire, learning the most likely needed reload for a gunfight, preventing and clearing the most likely malfunction clearance you will run into, moving off the line of attack and safely to cover, shooting in low/no light, and much more.

This fast paced, dynamic, and shooting intensive series of courses are taught entirely on the range in order to maximize your gun handling and trigger time.

WHO the training is for: The Modular Combative Handgun Course has been designed for both new and veteran gun owners who want to learn the gun handling skills and attitudes needed to decisively win the fight of their lives.

WHAT the Modular Combative Handgun Courses are: The Modular Combative Handgun Courses are a no-nonsense, gun handling and shooting intensive series of four 4-hour courses that teach the necessary skills and stress resistant gun-handling techniques needed to safely handle and effectively maneuver during a lethal force encounter.

HOW you will be trained: Our 4-hour module format goes well beyond the administrative state licensing and basic NRA type training by surrounding our clients with a unique training experience and support system which is administered by Pulse certified Combative Firearms Instructors or "CFIs" who individually help students reach their full potential.

Our training methodology is delivered in three phases: pre-course information and guidance, a 4-hour gun-handling intensive course, and our post-course support system.

  1. Pre-course information/guidance. Curricula, equipment lists, etc., are made available to you prior to your course so you can become comfortable with the key concepts and information you will want to know prior to your course, and allows you to have any lingering questions answered directly by your CFI prior to ever stepping foot on the range.
  2. During the 4-hour range training module, you will learn practical gun handling skills by practicing them under the watchful eyes of your CFI, in a safe training environment which will leave you with a solid understanding of how to confidently maneuver with and effectively use your handgun. Because all of the "book learning" was done prior to your course, we can invest much more time letting you handle your firearm so you can gain the confidence and knowledge you need to effectively deploy your handgun under more realistic conditions.
  3. Post course your CFI will continue to help you sharpen your skills by providing you with ongoing services, training advice, and ongoing training opportunities that will help you achieve your goals more quickly than you thought possible.

Defense Academy Support: Each phase of your training is supported through our online learning portal the O2DA Defense Academy, which houses all the curricula and materials (instructional videos, manuals, photos, customized training plans, white papers, etc.,) which you will need to access in order to quickly progress your training.

About Our Reality Based Training Programs

Reality based training or RBT is a type of simulation training that better prepares individuals for future performance through experiential learning (learning by experiencing and doing).

Our RBT scenarios will pit you against the best role players (trained actors) in the industry, who painstakingly following per-selected scripts which have been crafted to derive specific responses and achieve selected training goals from the scenarios being played out for your benefit.

Because of the immersive nature of the training, the mind and body absorb and process the experience as if it were actually occurring, therefore these realistic scenarios will quickly help you gain the experiences and confidence you need to dominate a lethal force encounter in real life.

When you add an RBT package to your training, the skills learned on the range are reinforced by your RBT and combine in a powerful way to prepare you for effective future behavior to nearly the same degree as if it had been an actual situation.

Only RBT gives you invaluable orientation training and stress inoculation, which in turn gives you the skills, experience, and confidence you need to shrink your decision making process (OODA Loop) and exponentially multiplying your effectiveness during a fight for life.

RBT is to the gunfighter what Topgun is to fighter pilots; RBT is the apex of firearms training, there is no substitute, and nothing prepares you better for the fight of your life than quality Reality Based Training.

In our training courses we teach you stress resistant firearms skills - In our Individual Tactics programs you will learn how to apply the same stress resistant skills in realistic RBT scenarios where you will hone your skill and technique against the best role players in the firearms industry, thereby inoculating you against stress and teaching you how to effectively eliminate live adversaries.

The Industry Standard Vs. The Pulse O2DA Standard

Using military and law enforcement training standards as a gauge we want to give you a relative sense of how the Pulse O2DA standard compares to the "industry" standard.

The industry standard focuses on range safety and artificiality by using tightly controlled, on-line, square range drills without maneuver (movement with purpose) or movement under tightly controlled drills (such as "box" drills), in order to focus on draw speed and hits in a given area under a certain time limit. This type of training is often accompanied by hours in the classroom discussing declarative knowledge (that information that you can best learn on your own, any time and anywhere you like) which often eats into the limited live fire training (a precious resource that can't be accomplished effectively on your own), often leaving the student more confused as to when lethal force is appropriate and afraid to fire his firearm in self-defense.

Pulse O2DA begins by looking at reality: To be able to defend yourself you need to be killing enabled, because regardless of your skills, if you haven't been killing enabled and can't kill another - you won't. Furthermore, one can only make proper decisions in lethal force engagements by way of orientation, and orientation only comes via experience under the same situations they hope to be able to perform the taught skills (experiential knowledge can not attained by reading or talking about such scenarios). To accomplish proper orientation training, we focus on training to maneuver safely via situational awareness and aggressive actions on contact initially learned on the range with both dry and live-fire drills and then reinforced during progressively more difficult RBT scenarios.

We maintain that a solid curricula based on firearms training and team tactics in a reality-based training environment while maintaining a small student to instructor ratio will leave a team trained by us more capable than most of the average military and police units (we base this on personal experience having trained thousands of military and law-enforcement personnel over 25 years). We believe that operational police and military units (those units actively kicking in doors day in and day out) probably would be able to outperform our clients in certain aspects, but we will be able to out-cycle their training, develop, and implement a better program faster than they can simply because we neither have the bureaucratic hoops to jump through, nor the institutional inertia to overcome.
